Alix Konadu

2023–present
long-term residency

Alix Konadu is a Brussels-based actress, musician and theatre maker. She works both on stage and behind the scenes, with a strong focus on stories about migration, identity and community. On stage, she has appeared in productions by KVS, Het Nationale Theater (NL) and hetpaleis, amongst others, and on screen in various series for VRT and VTM.

As a creator, she is constantly seeking new ways to connect theatre with society. For instance, she performed in and created projects such as Fearless Noordwijk with and for undocumented people in Maximiliaanpark. With the SOCHA collective, she collaborated on productions such as Hannibal and Burning City, which engage the audience in unconventional ways with themes such as migration and connectedness.

With the multidisciplinary creation Broken Home, My Shrine, Alix delves deeper into her half-Ghanaian background and explores themes such as home, diaspora and memory. This project developed during residencies at perfocraZe (Kumasi, Ghana), Alkantara (Lisbon) and Brussels. In addition, since 2023 she has been the artistic director of the performances by the group WOMEN26, a collective of women from Antwerp, Brussels, Marseille and Rotterdam.

Her work is characterised by a blend of social engagement and a physical, sensory approach to performance, music and theatre. She believes in stories that make space for diverse voices and perspectives, without reducing them to a single truth.
