This is the story of a little peasant girl called Oum. She was born far from here, in Egypt. It is a fairy tale. She sang so beautifully… I find it hard to believe that this really happened.
Paul Verrept tells the wonderful story of the life of the legendary Arab singer Oum Kalthoum. Bo Spaenc was inspired by this story and composed the music. The cover of the illustrated book contains a CD with songs, each available in French and Dutch versions.
Paul Verrept wrote Oum at the request of the theatre company DE KOLONIE T, in collaboration with Moussem. With thanks to Taha Adnan.
