Moussem Festival 2011

Dear reader,

Here is the programme for the eleventh Moussem Festival. As always, we are delighted to present a line-up of surprising, challenging and intriguing artists and projects. We have some major, internationally renowned artists (Assad Family, Doukkali, Naseer Shama & Anwar Abudragh) in store for you, but the common thread running through this festival is woven primarily by contemporary European artists with an Arab background. Héla Fattoumi, Muhanad Rasheed, Nacera Belaza and Taoufiq Izeddiou are no longer strangers to European stages. But Abdelmalek Kadi and Meryem Jazouli, who are collaborating for the first time on a commission from Moussem, also have a more than respectable track record. Hassan Khayoon and Amar Al Bojrad, meanwhile, are two emerging talents presenting their first solo projects, which they have been able to develop within the Moussem framework. With Lyrical Alliance, bringing together the biggest names in Arab hip-hop, and the Moroccan rock band Haoussa, we are giving a loud voice to Arab youth from Casablanca, Amman, Algiers and Beirut. Finally, we reflect on the events in the Arab world. In the Hope Map project, young video and performance artists from Egypt cast their gaze on the Arab Spring. On view between 14 and 26 November in the ABN hall at the Monty in Antwerp. The programme is, like Moussem itself, broad and eclectic and does not shy away from experimentation. We are therefore convinced that you will once again enjoy the varied programme.

We hope you have a great time!
