Jelena Jureša

Jelena Jureša is a visual artist and filmmaker. She has been working as a post-doctoral researcher at KASK School of Arts in Ghent since 2020. In her films, photography, video installations and texts, she explores issues of cultural identity, gender, memory politics and forgetting and collective violence. Jureša connects personal stories with collective processes of forgetting and remembering. She questions historical and political narratives in order to destabilise our ideas about ‘the truth’. Her latest film project Aphasia, which detects a common thread of power positions, racism, injustice and violence in Belgian colonialism, Austrian anti-Semitism and the atrocities in Bosnia, was produced by ARGOS and shown there in a solo exhibition in 2019.

Moussem supports Jelena’s artistic trajectory and co-produced the performance APHASIA.
